The might of mother nature. It's incredible that you can have displays like this on a cold winter day. Nesland, the place I took these pictures from, is a small fishing village with no more than 30 houses. The houses are mostly used in the tourist industry now a days, but a few people still live here.

In the old days, fishermen did camp here when the winter fishing started. I'm told that my grandfather was also here for a period. I hear stories of how they had to live, and what they had to do to survive. Life today seems so simple compared. There is no real struggle to be alive anymore.

I remember going here with my family when I was a child, to fish from the rocks. But this was in the summer when it was warm, and the sun was high in the sky. In the middle of the day the sun don't go any higher than this, and darkness will soon come.
